Overview - The Watershed Council PDF Print E-mail

The Kalamazoo River Watershed Council is a group of citizens dedicated to protecting, preserving, and restoring our shared water resources.  We see linkages everywhere we look including linkages between people, land, surface waters, and groundwater.  It is all connected, and it is yours!  In many ways, we see water resources as the sentinel indicator for environmental quality.  If your water resources are healthy and always improving, then you must be doing something right with land use, waste handling, and preservation of critical natural resources.

Our primary interest is to ensure that the public interest drives water resource planning, protection, and restoration actions.  We see many plans, projects, and leaders come and go from year to year, and we want to ensure continuity and honor community- identified water resource needs and goals.  We are willing to ask our designated elected officials to stand up for the public interest and fight for actions that cleanup and prevent pollution.
