In 2005, hundreds of watershed stakeholders and managers came together at a Watershed Forum held in Battle Creek to talk about past accomplishments and current projects. When they looked toward the future of watershed management, they concluded that there was a need for an organization that could connect the many efforts underway within the watershed and speak on diverse, large-scale watershed issues. With guidance and support from a working group of watershed partners, the Watershed Council agreed to serve this function on behalf of the watershed community. The Council will keep people connected, serving as a watershed communication center where individuals and groups can share ideas, find support and resources, and get in touch with others with common interests and goals.
